Water tanks and systems on board are subject to similar contamination risks to those on shore - more so if new water is sourced from different ports.
Water contains bacteria and this can manifest itself as an outbreak with very harmful effects - Legionella being the most prevalent. These bacteria are largely unseen and confined within the bio film evident in all pipe work and tanks.
Bio film harbours and protects bacteria.
Standard cleaning regimes - whilst disinfecting the water in the system - rarely remove this bio film.
We contract to clean and disinfect the entire system - the water within as well as removing the bio film in the system. The product and system we use to do this is accepted for use in potable systems and used extensively across Europe.
We currently conduct water treatment and cleaning contracts for a number of UK and European based organisations. We also conduct the water sampling for independent analysis.
Our products and services are particularly focused on the prevention of Legionella and harmful bacteria in water systems.
Of particular interest is a contract we enjoy with a ships management company - Tranship.
We are contracted to clean and disinfect their ships water tanks and systems and clean the shower heads - a common habitat for bacteria. Tranship in Holland manage a fleet of offshore exploration vessels.
We are able to arrive with our team and within a 1 or 2 day window are able to fully clean and disinfect the entire water system within the cabin and accommodation area of a vessel carrying up to 30/40 people.
Obviously significantly larger vessels may take a little longer but we are happy to survey and quote.
We are also able to operate off shore for larger vessels.
Primarily we are able to offer the following services to the vessels you service:
1] Cleaning and disinfection of the water systems on off shore vessels to prevent bacterial infections.
We use a chemical product specifically developed and accepted for potable water.
Chlorine kills the bacteria on water - but it doesn't kill the bacteria in the bio film present in nearly every water system.
Our product kills and removes the bio film - effectively - and also leaves a lasting residue to prevent further build up.
2] A proactive risk assessment survey.
This is really to identify potential problems areas and recommend corrective action.
This service is similar to the type offered at various shore based concerns - hotels, leisure centres, offices etc - anywhere the potential for bacteria and specifically Legionella to thrive exists.
A predetermined survey can saves thousands in reactive and emergency action by identifying and treating potential hazard areas before they become problem areas.
3] Sample collection and analysis by an independent laboratory to accurately determine the level of bacteria in the water.
We can issue Certificates of Analysis to confirm the vessel is "clean or clear" of bacteria in the water system.
We believe this will cover, proactively; any requirement the vessel may have post any inspection by local authorities.
The sample bottles will be made available on site as required and either we or the crew can take the samples for collection and analysis.
We believe this service we offer is substantially cheaper per sample than the service offered by some local authorities.
4] Water tank cleaning and disinfecting.
Our teams are trained and equipped to undertake pretty much any water tank clean - using high pressure equipment and cleaning products - all accepted for potable water.
