Risk Assessment

Our team of microbiologists and service technicians are equipped and qualified to conduct technical evaluations of systems on site.

These assessments include identifying and describing all areas of that system that are potentially liable to contribute to an increase in bio film formation which can increase the potential risk of Legionella contamination within the system.

The Risk Assessment is based on a visual inspection and a biological evaluation of the system and associated layout drawings and followed by a written report.

During the visual inspection of the system the emphasis is put on parameters that could increase the potential risk of Legionella growth, the measuring of temperatures and sufficient microbiological tests to confirm suspicion and results.

The report will summarise the overall potential risk and identify and highlight potential and actual problem areas. In addition we will produce a written suggested procedure to minimise the risk of future growth and development of Legionella - all in accordance with local and national legislation.

Instant Bacteria Monitoring

Technology today enables us to determine the amount of organic matter in a system instantly – within minutes – not days as used to be the case.

Adenosine Triphosphate [ATP] is present in all living cells. It is also referred to as the “energy currency”. Because the level is strictly controlled ATP determination can be used as an indicator of viable cell numbers. ATP can be detected rapidly by light emission through a combined use of luciferase and a luminometor.

We are able – using our ATP system – to determine the actual levels of bio film contamination within a system and are normally then able to recommend a cleaning and disinfecting regime. Tests yielding instant results conducted prior to cleaning and thereafter will display the effectiveness of the cleaning regime within minutes.
